Evenement Advancing Transport Equity guest lecture (EN)
We are organizing a special guest lecture on ‘Advancing Transport Equity’ with insights from Canadian surveys, pilots and spatial analytics on traffic and logistics.
We welcome two leading researchers from the University of Toronto, Dr. Steven Farber and Dr. Ignacio Tiznado Aitken. They will share evidence-based insights, models and real-world interventions on “The National Survey of Transport Poverty”: A Tool To Measure Transport Poverty, Suppressed Participation, and Sufficiency Standards” and “Understanding Suppressed Travel: Definitions, Measurement, and Preliminary Evidence”.
Special guests
Prof. Farber is a transportation geographer and spatial analyst at the University of Toronto Scarborough whose work focuses on the social and economic impacts of transport and land-use decisions, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and social sustainability. He leads the Mobilizing Justice partnership, advancing equity in transportation planning through innovative geo-computational and spatial analytical methods.
Dr. Tiznado-Aitken complements this work with expertise in transport justice and sustainable mobility, exploring the concept of suppressed travel, trips that individuals are unable to make due to transport constraints, by discussing its definitions, measurement approaches, and emerging empirical evidence. Together, the talks provide valuable insights into how data-driven and interdisciplinary methods can support more equitable and inclusive transport planning, contributing to fairer and more sustainable urban and regional mobility systems.
